Description
Troll Trapdoor or Wooden Trapdoor Mod for Medieval Madness Pinball – Customize Your Castle!
Give your Medieval Madness pinball machine even more character with our 3D Troll Trapdoor and Wooden Trapdoor Mods. These decorations enhance the three locations on the playfield and add depth to your machine. Between trolls emerging from their hiding places and mysterious wooden trapdoors, your castle gains extra dimension and a touch of medieval fantasy.
Each trapdoor recreates the appearance of old constructions with sculpted wooden planks, weathered textures and carefully applied paint. In addition, the two open versions feature different trolls. The closed versions, meanwhile, reproduce wooden flooring that probably conceals something better left undisturbed.
In Medieval Madness, when a troll emerges from the floor, it is usually trying to defend its territory or ruin your multiball. Either way, nobody invited it.
Four variations to customize your Medieval Madness
We offer these Medieval Madness Trapdoor Mods individually in four variations. This allows you to choose each element according to your preferences and create your own combination.
- Open Troll Trapdoor 1: a first troll emerges from a wooden opening. This version is suitable for the front locations on the playfield.
- Open Troll Trapdoor 2: a second troll, with a different appearance, also emerges from its hiding place. This version is also suitable for the front locations.
- Front Closed Wooden Trapdoor: it has the same diameter as the two Troll Trapdoors and allows you to visually replace a troll with a closed wooden cover.
- Rear Closed Wooden Trapdoor: its smaller diameter corresponds to the location at the back of the playfield, beneath the princess.
Create your own castle arrangement: install two different trolls at the front, combine one troll with a closed trapdoor or choose two closed trapdoors. Then complete your decoration with the rear trapdoor.
You decide how many trolls your kingdom should welcome. However, don’t celebrate too soon if you close all the trapdoors: in Medieval Madness, these little creatures always find a way back.
Dimensions adapted to the playfield locations
The three front variations have the same diameter. You can therefore install Troll 1, Troll 2 or a closed wooden trapdoor in either of the two front locations.
However, the Rear Closed Wooden Trapdoor has a smaller diameter. It is positioned exclusively at the back of the playfield, beneath the princess.
Important: the front and rear models are not interchangeable. Please check your selected variation before ordering to ensure you choose the correct diameter.
3D decoration faithful to the Medieval Madness universe
The Medieval Madness pinball machine by Williams immerses players in a medieval universe filled with castles, fantastic creatures and completely outrageous characters.
Our trapdoors extend this atmosphere by transforming the playfield locations into genuine little 3D decorations. Unlike simple stickers, they add volume and highlight the different areas of the castle.
In addition, the aged wood effects and paint shades naturally complement the original decorations.
The two trolls each have their own appearance. You can therefore vary the characters and avoid repetitive decoration. The closed trapdoors, meanwhile, offer a more discreet and mysterious alternative.
Handcrafted production and hand-painted finish
We make each Medieval Madness Trapdoor Mod to order, then individually prepare and paint every piece.
We work on the wood textures, shades of brown and weathering effects to reproduce the appearance of genuine medieval wooden flooring.
On the open versions, we also pay particular attention to the trolls. The painting highlights their expressions, sculpted reliefs and the small details of their design.
In addition, the shading accentuates the recessed areas and gives the characters greater depth. This manual work gives each piece its own unique character.
After all, in a medieval castle, perfectly identical planks with flawless varnish would seem rather suspicious. As for the trolls, we gave up asking them to stay clean a long time ago.
Easy installation with supplied self-adhesive Velcro
We have chosen a self-adhesive Velcro fastening system to simplify installation. Thanks to this solution, you can secure the trapdoors without dismantling the towers or drilling into the playfield.
The Velcro also makes it easy to remove the decorative elements for maintenance. You can then reinstall them without having to repeat the entire installation process.
Step 1 – Prepare the pinball machine and choose the locations
- Completely switch off your pinball machine before beginning any work.
- Remove the lockdown bar, then carefully slide out the playfield glass.
- Place the glass somewhere clean and secure.
- Locate the two front positions and the rear position beneath the princess.
- Choose the trapdoors corresponding to each location.
- Test-fit each mod to check its diameter, orientation and alignment.
Reminder: Troll 1, Troll 2 and the Front Closed Wooden Trapdoor have the same diameter. The Rear Closed Wooden Trapdoor is smaller and is positioned only beneath the princess.
Step 2 – Clean the surfaces
- Carefully clean the areas where the trapdoors will be installed.
- Remove dust, grease marks and any cleaning product residue.
- Use a soft cloth and a cleaning product compatible with the surface concerned.
- Allow the surface to dry completely before continuing.
This preparation is important. Self-adhesive Velcro adheres much better to a clean, dry surface.
So take a few moments to clean the mounting surfaces properly. The trolls have waited several centuries to emerge from their hiding places; they can certainly wait another two minutes.
Step 3 – Install the self-adhesive Velcro
- Prepare the two parts of the supplied self-adhesive Velcro.
- Temporarily fasten them together to check that they match correctly.
- Remove the adhesive backing from the first part.
- Attach it underneath the mod, on a suitable surface.
- Then apply the second part to the chosen location.
- Follow the alignment established during the test fitting.
- Apply even pressure for a few seconds to ensure good adhesion.
Avoid removing and reapplying the adhesive parts several times. These repeated operations may reduce their effectiveness.
Step 4 – Position the trapdoors and check the installation
- Carefully place the first trapdoor onto its mounting surface.
- Fasten the two Velcro parts together to hold the mod in place.
- Check that it is correctly centered and stable.
- Make sure the trapdoor does not interfere with any ball trajectory or moving component.
- Repeat the process for the other trapdoors.
- Perform one final check of all the different locations.
- Then reinstall the glass and the lockdown bar.
And that’s it! Your castle now welcomes its new inhabitants. No building permits, royal authorization or, most importantly, negotiations with trolls are required.
Tips for removing or repositioning the trapdoors
To temporarily remove a mod, simply separate the two Velcro parts. This allows you to access the area for maintenance and then reinstall the trapdoor.
However, avoid unnecessarily removing the adhesive parts from their mounting surfaces. If you need to remove them, proceed gently to preserve the pinball machine’s surfaces.
The system therefore makes maintenance and removal of the decorative elements easier. However, the adhesive may leave marks depending on the condition and finish of the surface.
