Detailed Life Ring Mod installation

Installation requires temporarily removing the action button,
but remains simple and completely reversible.
No drilling or permanent modification of the lockbar is required.

1. Switch your pinball machine off completely before carrying out any work.
2. Open the coin door, then unlock the lockbar.
3. Remove the lockbar from the machine.
4. Also remove the playfield glass and place it somewhere safe to prevent it from sliding during handling.
5. Carefully turn the lockbar over to access the action button’s mounting system.
6. Locate the ring or metal bracket holding the button in place underneath the lockbar.
7. Carefully unscrew this fastener to release the original button.
8. Remove the button, then position the Life Ring Mod in its recess on the lockbar.
9. Replace the transparent button in the center of the buoy.
10. Screw its fastener back on from underneath without overtightening.
11. Press the button manually several times to check that it slides freely and returns correctly to position.
12. Then replace the glass and reposition the lockbar on the machine.
13. Before fully locking the lockbar, check that the button is correctly aligned with its switch.
14. Lock the lockbar, then test the button once again to make sure it works.

If the button seems to remain pressed after reassembly,
do not force it.
Simply remove the lockbar and check its alignment with the switch before repositioning it.

In the end, installation takes far less time
than explaining to someone why it was objectively essential
to add a life buoy around a pinball button.
